In conjunction with Vail Williams, we are hosting a breakfast briefing in May 2026 on the likely impacts on planning and development in Surrey and Sussex of local government reorganisation and devolution. This will be after the May elections for the two new unitary authorities in Surrey, which will be in ‘shadow’ for a year before taking over in 2027. The government is also due to reveal plans for Sussex in July, but no decisions have yet been made on directly elected mayors.
The breakfast briefing will be on Friday 15th May 2026, at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, RH5 6AA. Breakfast will be served from 8am with the event starting at 9am. There will be four speakers who will present, followed by a Q&A session.
Currently, speakers include Marisa Heath, Cabinet Member for Environment and Planning at Surrey County Council, Katy Bourne, Sussex PPC (Police and Crime Commissioner) and Chris Wilmshurst partner, planning at Vail Williams. Further information, including other speakers, will be announced in the coming weeks.
