Chris has been a Liberal Democrat county and district councillor for over 30 years, most recently leader of St Albans District Council and chair of its Planning Policy & Climate Committee. He has considerable experience in local plan making and planning policy in general.
He stepped down from St Albans in May 2024 but remains a county councillor and senior member of the Liberal Democrat Party. He was honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours with an OBE for services to local government.
Chris has also worked on the other side of the fence, in planning public affairs – he was head of Chelgate Local for several years up until 2015.
