Chris has over 20 years’ experience in local government serving as a Conservative councillor at Brentwood Borough Council, covering key roles including chair of the Planning Committee and leader of the Council, during which time he oversaw the adoption of the Local development Plan.
Former chair of South Essex Councils and member of the Thames Estuary Growth Board, he has a keen interest in infrastructure and investment into the county of Essex where he has lived for 40 years.
Having stepped down as a borough councillor in 2023, Chris was elected to Essex County Council in 2026 where he now serves as a Reform UK councillor in the Cabinet and has re-joined the Local Government Association as a peer.
